While the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is implementing its plans for the City, there are several government and non-governmental organisations that have, within their ambit, a desire to do their bit for the restoration of Bengaluru’s rich environment. One such is the Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Rural Energy and Development (MGIRED), an initiative of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department of the Karnataka government.
